XRPL fees are designed to be small and predictable compared with many congested networks, but users still need to understand reserves and optional fee increases during unusual load.
Base transaction cost
Most standard transactions burn a tiny amount of XRP as an anti-spam measure. The exact minimum can change through network amendments; check current documentation before batching many operations.
Owner reserves
Accounts must hold a base reserve, with additional reserve per owned object (such as trust lines or offers). Closing objects can free reserved XRP.
When fees might rise
During heavy traffic, wallets may propose higher fees to improve inclusion priority. This is not a guarantee of faster confirmation—monitor explorer feedback instead of assuming instant success.
Summary
Budget for both per-transaction costs and locked reserves. Test workflows on small amounts first.
